    Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop a forest school character education program founded on the eight core ethical values specified in The Promotion of Character Education Act and to determine its efficacy on elementary school children. The program was constructed adhering to the ADDIE model following a careful scrutiny of all pertinent data culled from existing literature on forest education, forest schools, and character education, as well as from survey results of needs expressed by teachers and parents. The experimental sample group for this study consisted of 60 fourth graders from D Elementary School. Upon completion of the 10-month program, pre post differences in character were measured. The covariate analysis applying SPSS Statistics V22.0 concluded that the improvement in core ethical values of the experimental group who participated in the forest school character education program was statistically significant when directly compared to the control group that underwent character education in the classroom.
